Hylophobia / My Thesis Project Production Design

For an average animation students in DLS-CSB, 10 weeks would not be enough to finish a short animated film, given that we were given at the very least of 3 terms to develop it.

I always wanted to produce an animated short good enough to surpass my poor to mediocre performance in my past several terms as an animation student in Benilde. For the 3rd time and my last chance, (I've dropped my very last major subject twice challenging my residency at school) again took a high risk to challenge myself to create a better thesis project for the sake of self fulfillment (given that i only have more or less 10 weeks). Yes i restarted everything, thanks to my Course Adviser, Sir Linton for letting me do this, even though I failed to deliver twice before.

Throughout the past 10 weeks, here are my production design for my thesis project titled "The Fluffy Munchies". I don't even have an idea why I came up with that title, it just sound cute.

Mechanophobia

Character line-up for my take #2 for my final project in animation, but my skill wasn't enough to finish what I've started. I took a big risk on re-animating my project 3 weeks before the deadline. Of course I failed doing the "3 weeks thesis stint".

With all the heavy burden i inflicted upon myself, my lovelife (Eveth Nocon) still found a way to support and help me on especially on the production phase for my thesis. She sacrificed her sleeping hours just to help her boyfriend....the fool me. But it still wasn't enough. Even though the outcome was bad, she provided me with great inspiration to move on and to continue improving.

We had a deal not to post something about my thesis, so I won't be posting my background designs for now. Might post it in the future.

I tried animating traditionally in Flash cs4 with a pen tablet, and here's the result. Cleaned it up before posting and I'm still trying to learn animating head turns as my character walks (one of my weaknesses..but i'm trying). This one was a scene from my previous project but i abandoned it for some reasons.

Paralipophobia (Oh it's been a while)

Character Concept design. Yup it somehow resembles Gorillaz' Murdoc Niccals but it wasn't intentional. I just realized it when some distant friend pinpoint it to me :D
